View Printable version of this article When we opened the Reality TV Hall of Fame, we did so, as explained in the introductory article, to recognize the best in reality TV. At the time, we noted, “We’re not going to induct every winner of the various shows, because some, quite frankly, don’t deserve it.” That remains true today. However, whether people are Hall of Famers or not, we feel that those winners deserve at least a mention, just as the winner of every Wimbledon or Masters Tournament is listed for time immemorial even if that person never gets into the respective hall of fame. As such, we are opening up a new section in the Reality TV Hall of Fame: The Winner’s Circle. As with Hall of Fame Moments, those who are listed in The Winner’s Circle will not be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame, but the circumstances surrounding their win will be discussed and their win will be recognized. With the huge number of reality shows out there, it will take quite a while to catch up, but we will try to keep a continuous stream of Winner’s Circle articles on the site to help bring you back to memory lane. In the beginning, at least, we will mostly focus on shows that featured strategy or skill rather than games of dating and love – though we may hit those from time to time. Anybody who is already inducted into the Hall of Fame will not receive a separate Winner’s Circle article because it would simply be rehashing what we’ve already discussed. Soon after we begin this new feature here, we will also begin a corresponding feature at the Reality TV Hall of Shame called “The Loser’s Circle.” That section will pretty much be the opposite of this one, showcasing those who went out first in their respective competitions – or at least went out early enough to deserve special recognition. We hope you enjoy the Hall of Fame and this new feature! If you have any suggestions, please feel free to e-mail and let us know!
